Accepting Payments: Verifying Your Employer Identification Number (EIN)

An EIN is required only for businesses in the United States.

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is issued by the IRS for tax purposes. U.S. employers must have an EIN in order to operate legally.

Verifying Your EIN in Talo Payments

When completing your Talo Payments setup as a Partnership, LLC, or Corporation, Talo Payments will ask for your company’s 9-digit Employer Identification Number.

To verify your EIN, upload a copy of your EIN confirmation notice. Make sure the document meets the following guidelines:

  • The company name must be clear and must match the business details in your Talo Payments account

  • The EIN must be visible and easy to read

  • Accepted formats: jpeg, jpg, pdf, png

  • Photos of paper documents must be in original color

  • Maximum file size: 10 MB

  • Minimum file size: 1 KB for PDF, 100 KB for other formats
