Marketing: How to stop receiving and paying for leads

Learn how to pause or stop receiving and paying for leads from the marketplace.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You’re automatically charged for a lead when a customer contacts you and their request matches your targeting settings. If you want more control over when those leads come in, there are several ways to manage your visibility and activity.

This guide covers options for leads you pay for automatically.

Pause marketing to hide your business

If you need a break from all new leads, hiding your business is a quick solution. This is helpful when you’re on vacation, out of town, or simply don’t have room in your schedule. Once hidden, your business won’t appear in customer searches for up to 90 days, and no one new can reach out. That means no new leads and no charges during your downtime.

Turn off targeting

If you only want to pause leads for certain services, turning off targeting is the way to go. When targeting is off for a service, you’re removed from search results for that type of job. You won’t get new leads or pay for them until you turn targeting back on. Your previous settings are saved, so restarting is simple when you’re ready.

Remove a service

If you’ve stopped offering a service entirely, you can remove it from your account. Doing this takes you out of search results for that service, preventing new leads and charges related to it. You can re-add the service anytime if you decide to offer it again. You can also remove multiple services if needed.

Deactivate your pro account

If you want to close your account for good, deactivation is the final step. Before choosing this option, review the alternatives above to make sure this is what you want.

Deactivating your account permanently removes your profile, reviews, balance, projects, and all other data. This action can’t be reversed. While you can reactivate your account later, your previous data won't be restored. Once your account is deactivated, you won’t get leads or be billed anymore.
