Save sales before you’re ready to check out, giving you the flexibility to adjust items, service charges, tips, and discounts at any time. Learn how to create, manage, and complete draft sales.

How Draft Orders Work

Draft sales let you start a sale, save progress, and return later to complete checkout and generate an invoice.

Creating Draft Orders

Draft sales can be created directly from appointments or from a new sale via the calendar or sales list.


Create Draft Orders From Appointments

Useful when clients want to add more items before, during, or after an appointment.

Desktop / Mobile

  1. Open the Calendar.

  2. Click the appointment.

  3. Select Checkout to adjust the cart:

    • Add items: Use Add to cart to select Appointments, Services, Products, or Gift Cards.

    • Edit item details: Adjust price, quantity, discount, or team member.

    • Service charges: Edit percentage or rate, or remove the charge.

    • Quick actions: Add cart discounts, service charges, or sales notes.

  4. From Quick actions, select Save as unpaid.

If you close the cart without saving, you’ll be prompted to save or discard changes.


Create Draft Sales From a New Order

Desktop / Mobile

  1. Open the Calendar.

  2. Click Add → Sale.

  3. You can also create a draft sale through Sales → Add new.

  4. Select a client profile.

  5. Add items and make adjustments:

    • Add items (Appointments, Services, Products, Gift Cards)

    • Edit price, quantity, discounts, team member

    • Adjust service charges

    • Apply Quick Actions (discounts, notes, service charge)

  6. Choose Quick actions → Save as unpaid.


Managing Draft Orders

You can view or edit draft sales anytime before checkout. Each draft sale shows the status (unpaid, partially paid, refunded, canceled).

Edit a Draft Order

  1. Open Sales → Orders.

  2. Select the Drafts tab.

  3. Choose the draft sale.

  4. Select Checkout to edit items.

  5. All changes save automatically.

Refunding Draft Orders

If a draft sale includes an upfront or partial payment, you can refund it.

Refund Upfront Payments From Appointments

  1. Open the appointment linked to the draft sale.

    • Via Calendar, or

    • Via Sales → Orders

  2. Under Actions, click Refund order.

  3. Fill out the details for the refund.

  4. Click Issue refund.


Checking Out Draft Orders

Draft sales appear in:

  • The client’s profile

  • The Sales section

  • The linked appointment

To Checkout a Draft Sale

  1. Open Sales → Orders.

  2. Select Drafts and choose the sale.

  3. Click Checkout and adjust the cart if needed.

  4. Continue to Tip (if enabled).

  5. Continue to Payment and choose a payment method.

  6. Click Pay now to complete the sale.

The sale moves to the Completed list.


Canceling a Draft Order

You can cancel any draft sale if it’s no longer needed.

Cancel a Draft Order

  1. Open Sales → Orders.

  2. Open the draft sale.

  3. Under Actions, click Edit order.

  4. Click the three dots next to → Void sale.

  5. Confirm.

Cancel an appointment with a Draft Order

  1. Open the appointment linked to the draft sale.

    • Via Calendar, or

    • Via Sales → Orders

  2. Click the three dots next to → Cancel.

  3. Check the Update order box to remove the draft order

  4. If you leave the Update order unchecked, the order will remain unpaid

  5. Click Cancel appointment


FAQs

What happens if a payment fails during checkout?
The draft sale remains unchanged so you can retry with a different payment method.

Can any team member create a draft sale?
Team members need the “Can check out sales” permission.

Can walk-ins be saved as draft sales?
Yes — walk-ins can be converted to draft sales.

Can clients pay for only some items in a draft sale?
Yes. Partial payments are supported.
